| Po klęsce Niemiec w I Wojnie Światowej na terenie Wielkopolski nasiliły się działania mające na celu odzyskanie niepodległości tych terenów i przyłączenie ich do Polski. Ukoronowaniem był wybuch pod koniec grudnia 1918 Powstania Wielkopolskiego, jedynego zakończonego sukcesem powstania polskiego. Po ciężkich walkach w lutym 1919 zawarto rozejm z Niemcami. Nie oznaczało to jednak końca zagrożenia. Dlatego tez przez cały czas umacniano siły powstańcze tworząc regularną armię. Armia ta posiadała własne umundurowanie i system oznak. Siły zbrojne na terenie Wielkopolski składały się z oddziałów wojska i Straży Obywatelskiej pełniącej funkcje porządkowe. Do czasu zawarcia traktatu Wersalskiego unikano ze względów politycznych ścisłego powiązania Wielkopolski z resztą kraju. Po traktacie Wersalskim Wojska Wielkopolskie zostały włączone w skład Wojska Polskiego. |

| After the defeat of Germany during the 1st War the Polish citiziens of the Wielkopolska region (which was under Prussian occupation for more then 100 years) begun to struggle for independence. Thjis ended with the so called "Wielkopolska Uprising" (the only succesfull uprising in Polish history). The fighting begun at the end of December 1918 and ended with the signing of armistice in February 1919. However this didn\\\'t mean the end of thread, so the various Polish troops had to be organised into more regular army. This army has been called Wojska WIelkopolskie. The other armed organisation in this region was Straż Obywatelska (Citizien's Guard) which fulfill the internal security duties. Both forces developed their own uniforms and insignia. |
